Since the right wing party PiS is in power Polands rainbow community is under intensified pressure by massive hate propaganda directed from verious sides. Politicians, church dignitaries, fundamental groups and parts of main media spredding conspiratorial and false information about LGBT+ people to exclude them from polish society.
Since 2019 many municipalities brought LGBT+ discrimination on a new level
as they declared to be „LGBT-free zones“.
In may 2020 the world wide union for LGBT+ organizations ILGA named Poland the most problematic country in EU regarding to LGBT+ rights. The propaganda says LGBT+ is just an ideology coming from western Europe that has to be stopped to save the tradition of polish families. According to that many LGBT+ people struggle to openly live their gender expression or sexuality.
Beginning of August 2020 was the start of massive solidarity movement Poland never saw before. It was triggered by the detention of Margot, a transgender LGBT+ activist who got sued for putting rainbow flags on Warsaws monuments. Over a whole month every day protests took place over all the country. Some people even called out a Polish Stonewall.
